Australian Electronic Travel Authority Information.

Apply here for your visa (ETA) on our secure site if you are planning to visit or do business in Australia.

We offer the holders of most passports a very fast, secure, electronic means of applying for your Australian Visitor visa or Australian Business Short Stay visa.

Subject to the Australian Authorities approving your application you will receive an email giving you a copy of your Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) approval and a receipt for our fee. The ETA lasts for a period of twelve months from the date of approval. No paper documents are required by you to enter Australia.

No more sending your passport to the Embassy, no more paper to lose. The email we send you is for 'peace of mind' only, to confirm your application has been approved. The Australian Authorities do not need to see it when you arrive because they will already have your details electronically stored. This is a fast and efficient way of obtaining your 'visa'.

We charge a non-refundable fee of £15 to process your application.

An ETA is an electronically stored authority for travel to Australia which:
  • replaces the visa label or stamp in a passport.
  • removes the need for application forms to be sent to the Australian Authorities.
  • enables passengers to be processed more quickly on arrival in Australia.
Obtain your ETA clicking one of the links, but please read this whole page first.

With a Visitor ETA you can enter Australia only if the following conditions are met:
  • your visit to Australia is for tourism or you are visiting relatives.
  • you will not work in Australia.
  • your stay will not be for more than three months.
  • you are in good health and have no criminal convictions.
  • you use the ETA within twelve months, or before your passport expires (whichever is the sooner).
With a Business Short Stay ETA you can enter Australia only if the following conditions are met:
  • Your visit to Australia is only for business meetings, conventions, conferences or a short term project requiring a high level of skill.
  • You will not be employed by a company in Australia.
  • Your stay will be for less than three months.
  • You use the ETA within twelve months, or before your passport expires (whichever is the sooner).
  • You apply for a new Business Short Stay ETA for each entry into Australia.
If you do not meet all of the requirements above, you will need advice from your nearest Australian diplomatic office.

ETAs are only valid if travelling on carriers approved by the Australian Authorities - before travelling, please check that your airline is approved.

An ETA can only be verified through the ETA System (ETAS). It is not possible to provide a traveller with physical evidence of an ETA. We do however send you a copy of your approval by email which you may take with you if you wish.
