On a cruise you can take fine meals at restaurants boasting the highest quality and offering service that will amaze you, keep fit in the gyms, enjoy wonderful entertainment, visit stunning places - all of which make your cruise experience stay in your memory forever.
Traditional British cruise values are still present with cruise lines such as Cunard, P&O and Fred Olsen. These lines still offer typical British cruises and include formal dining, Captains cocktail parties and an elegance that you might expect on the high seas. For those of you who do not want the formality, but still expect the level of service, companies such as NCL, Princess Cruises and the brand new Ocean Village are shifting towards more informal cruises. On these cruises you can eat what you want and when you want to, even wearing casual clothes. Some cruises even have a different style of excursions. These include mountain biking, wine tasting and water sports - in fact everything you could do in a hotel, just that it is in a different place each day.
Another type of cruising is the Themed Cruise. This is where you can pursue your favourite pastime or even learn a new interest whilst at sea. Examples of this include golf cruises on board Fred Olsen’s Black Watch and Braemar. Fred Olsen also feature the Arts Club which offers you participation in music, dance, watercolours or Bridge.
For those who do not want a holiday on the high seas, there are other ways of enjoying the cruise experience. River cruising is not a new product, but is becoming more and more popular. The ships are smaller, more intimate and allow access to views of inland sights only visible from the rivers. Travel Renaissance are a company specialising in River Cruises. They have a wide range of cruises available on rivers such as the Rhine, Seine, Nile and the Douro. Another option is Coastal cruises. This is where you visit different ports within a country or region. Classic examples of this are the Norwegian Fjords and Alaska’s Inside Passage.
